Summon Planar

Warlord - Plane of Secrets

AEG

8″ x 12″

Oil on gessoed watercolor paper

From my description: “Scene - an underground, stone-walled chamber in which an evil female
wizard summons a monster from another plane.

Other side of the image - A twisted, ethereal-looking monster begins to
form from the ether of the Plane of Secrets. It is starting to form a
shape, but is not quite humanoid yet, popping out limbs and joints one
at a time.”

I don’t often get the chance to work on beasties, so I had a great deal of fun working on this. It wasn’t until I was finished with the painting that I looked at it and thought, Aw crap….the head looks like one of the demon dogs from Ghostbusters. Oh well, I seem to have the unconscious desire to do something screwy with my work. See DeSalle and Prison of the Mind as other examples of this.
