This Friday, May 9, is the opening of the Spring Show & Sale at the Butler Arts Center (344 South Main St., across from the Post Office). The show runs until May 30. I will have Geisha Blossoms, Faerie’s Embrace, Dragon Cooties, and Lao Tzu in the show. Aaaaaand……Tomorrow I will find out which one of my pieces won a prize! I received a call yesterday informing me of such!

From my description: “We see an imperial courtier resting on a dias, a look of boredom on her face. To the left a group of about three Crane courtiers are walking away dejected. Each of them should be obviously in the same outfit with the same hairdo. Nearly triplets. She has just dismissed them outright. This action card removes abilities from cards with the same name. Flavor will be something like ‘These courtiers begin to all look the same…’ so this art should play up the humor.”

Workin’ On L5R

As usual, April is an insanely busy time for me. I’m currently working on 6 paintings for L5R and am about to start on a new one for Warlord (now being produced by PHOENIX Interactive GmbH in Germany). On April 25-27 I will be attending the Pittsburgh Comic Con once again. If you stopped by my booth last year, I’ll be in the exact same space. Also, I have a bunch of AUCTIONS going on at the moment. Mostly ACEOs, but I also have a few of my Limited Edition 11 x 14 prints up as well as the original sketch, inked drawing and final colored version of Corpsey Puff.

This lovely lady is the third in my Seasonal Faerie Series. All of the others (Yule and Mabon) have been in Prismacolor Markers & Colored pencils on hemp paper. Before I was even done drawing her, she was “screaming” at me to paint her. This will be my first painting in 5 years that I’ve worked on just for myself…and I’m really excited to get started on it! I did screw up a little though. I did the Yule Faerie (vertical) first, then the Mabon (horizontal), then this one (vertical). I wanted to have two images be vertical and two horizontal so that they could aesthetically go together. Well damn it all…Yule and Ostara are right next to each other. I may end up redoing the Mabon Faerie in a vertical orientation so that all of the Faeries are cohesive. Plus, I feel like I rushed the Mabon Faerie anyway.
